Abstract:The orthogonal experiment was conducted on a test bench to test the cutting velocity and power requirement of maize stalks supported at two ends. The outcome showed that the cutting mode had the maximal influence on cutting velocity and the number of stalks to be cut obviously affected the power of chopping. For the requirement of chopper designing and factual condition of cutting, the tests for various pieces of stalks to be cut were conducted. The changing trend of cutting velocity and power were analyzed. The results indicated that two pieces of maize stalk should be chopped at a velocity of 13 6 m/s with supporting at two ends.
